Our "fancyfriends" kitties are our children. We love and spoil each and everyone of lilac point himalayan kittenthem as if they were only children. We began breeding in 1984 with bi-colors under our "Cooks Persians" cattery name. In 1991 we registered our new cattery of Himalayans with the Fancyfriends name. At Fancyfriends we focused on that beautiful, sweet, open expression. Our cats are known to have faces like angels with big beautiful dark blue eyes. We are committed seal point himalayanto producing cats with sweet, loving laid back personalities, while at the same time constantly adding new bloodlines to remain healthy and outcrossed with out losing "our look". With the chocolates and lilacs, we are blending into our lines, we are really excited to be breeding for the Himalayans and color point Exotics with those beautiful white coats.

We got started in chocolates and lilacs right from the start of our Himalayan adventure... I saw an adorable Himalayan at a friends house and asked her where she got it. She told me that if I wanted to take a ride, we could go together and visit that breeder. So I did .... I bought two litter mates "Royal Secret Mr. Perfect" and "Royal Secret Hot Fudge Sundie". FUDGIE was soooo beautiful. She had really deep vivid blue eyes that were square and turned down in the corners and they were giant. She looked like a cartoon character and she carried chocolate and lilac as a sort of side benefit. The next time I went to visit Carole (Royal Secret) she had this really beautiful lilac point female and I could not take my eyes off of her, so home we went, her name was Royal Secret Chynna. Chynna unfortunately died during a c-section and so did all of the kittens :(

chocolate point himalayanI was now on fire to do the chocolates and lilacs ... I bred an offspring of fudgie to a red Agonistes male named Sir Dennis and produced CH Fancyfriends Confetti. Confetti had a black CPC son named Majik who I sold to Ann Chapman of Darling Purrs cattery. About a year later, Ann purchased a really pet quality lilac point female from a local breeder, when I saw her, I said WHY????? This cat was such a pet, I could not believe she would buy her for breeding, especially because Ann is generally quite discriminating and had just granded a son of Majiks, "GC Darling Purrs Bright sparkle". I had forgotten about the whole situation for awhile.

One day I went over to Ann's to see her kittens and they were lilac and chocolate points....I was so shocked!!!!! and they had nice type. I took the lilac point female and Ann kept the chocolate point female. I then needed to go out and buy a male to breed to this lilac point female. I went to Barbara Redalia at Tuleburg. My new foundation cats for the chocolate and lilac program were: CH Fancyfriends Fiesta (tortie point litter sister to Majik), CH Darling Purrs Chanel (lilac point female), CH Tuleburg Chococat of Fancyfriends (chocolate point male) from these cats came all of the others here at fancyfriends.

Lilac Point HimalayanI have found that in order to get my look on the lilacs and chocolates, I have to continuously return to my other Himi lines to outcross and then go back in. If I try to breed first generation visual to visual, the kittens are not the look I prefer and type is always an issue. I am finally getting some really special examples of our breed in the chocolates and lilac. Its really worth the challenge!!!!!! For me, its that beautiful sparkling, big, white coat that keeps me hooked :)

We could not have gotten where we are today with out the help of the short coat contribution of Virginia Relf/Vision Exotics, the coat factor from Christee Prout of Purrpals Cattery, the chocolate gene from Ann Chapman of Darling Purrs Cattery and Barbara Redalia of Tuleburg cattery and the many other breeders that helped us along the path. Please visit our chocolate and lilac page on our web site to see some of the kitties we currently are working with in our chocolate and lilac Himalayan and Exotic program,we hope you enjoy your visit :)
